You Are What You Digest!
Americans spend many billion dollars per year on food. Our diet
consumes more of our budget than any other living expense, except for
the medical care that we occasionally seek as a result of our dietary
indiscretions. Not only do we overeat, but the foods that we eat have
been largely stripped of their nutritional value- processed and
preserved for a longer shelf life.
These food trends, coupled with the stress of our modern lifestyle,
wreak havoc on our ability to efficiently digest foods. This in turn
compromises our immune system, making us susceptible to chronic
infection and disease.
It is no wonder that the best selling prescription drugs in America
are those which mask the symptoms of poor digestion. Over the counter
remedies abound, and certain household names have capitalized for years
on our ignorance and self-destructive behavior. Prolonged use of
antacids has been shown to rob your body of essential vitamins and
minerals. Instead of masking our symptoms for temporary relief, we must
learn to attack the underlying cause of our diminished health. Read More

Recent Blog Post: Have You Lost Your Spark?
Did the fresh
start of the new year pass you by this year? Sometimes the extra
"holiday pounds" and hectic pace of life can really drag us down. Were
you too tired to even think about making resolutions about healthy
changes in your life? If so, it may be too late for resolutions, but it
is is never too late for a positive change!
You still have time to dramatically increase your energy level and
even your body shape for the active days of Summer.
Rather than trying to make wholesale changes all at once, here are
five easy things you can do to make a big difference: 1. Kick the Sugar Habit Cut out the sweets and not only will pounds disappear, but your
energy levels will soar. Sweets promote fungal overgrowth in the body,
which leads to thyroid suppression, hormonal imbalance and toxic
overload of the liver. Avoid chemical sweeteners like the plague. they
are toxic!
2. Ban sodas and drink water. Don't drink your
calories. Sodas are very acidifying and thus rob the bones of life
giving minerals.
3. Get Moving! Moderate exercise will do more to
normalize your insulin, cortisol and leptin levels than any drug (or
anything else, for that matter).
4. Reverse Your Enzyme Deficit and Fuel Your Metabolism!
Eat small, frequent meals consisting of whole foods (not processed or
fast foods). Digestive enzymes not only help improve digestive
efficiency, they help control inflammation and clean up cellular debris.
5. Get Your Rest! Adequate sleep is critical to good health.. that is
when the body goes into repair mode.
The quality of your life is directly proportional to the quality of
your daily choices. Start with these few changes and you will see
profound results in a matter of weeks. |
